"CATCHING A PASS
CATCHING SKILLS. Fingers - spread forming a
cone for catching the ball... Arms - place the hands in position to see both the
ball and he hands as the catch is made... Eyes - focused on the ball and the
hands... Wrists - angle the palms up... Outside Hand - always makes first
contact with the ball, turns the ball toward the body preparing for the
carry... Opposite Hand - after initial contact, firmly controls the ball and
turns the point into the armpit for the run... Passes Even or Above the
Numbers. Hands - the thumbs touch, the first fingers are almost together...
Passes Below the Numbers or Under the Waist. Hands - the little fingers
touch forming a catching pocket."

THE "SHOULDER CLUB" RELEASE
Feet - step in the direction of the release past the
outside of the defender's shoulder pads. When the defender lines up opposite the
back foot, the tight end takes two steps to pass the defender's shoulder pads...
Forearm - touches the defender's arm slightly below the top of the shoulder
driving the defender's arm down... Opposite Arm - swings over the defender's
shoulder... Elbow - drives into the defender's back... Hips - the receiver
drives their hips past the defender's body.
